One of the most successful UK R&B soul bands of the 1980s, Loose Ends, will be bringing their unique sounds to the stage of the 1865 Club on Friday 28 October at 7.30pm.
The trio formed in London in 1980, and Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene, and Steve Nicol were the original line up who emerged on to the music scene.
They first hit the charts in 1985 with Hangin’ on a String, which went to number one in the USA and hit the national top 20 in the UK.
More hits soon followed on both sides of the Atlantic with Magic Touch, Slow Down, and Watching You (Watching Me).
When members, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol, left the band in 1989, they were replaced by Linda Carriere and Sunay Suleyman, who joined remaining member, McIntosh, in continuing the Loose Ends legacy.
The last album released by Loose Ends, Look How Long – which featured hit single, Don’t Be a Fool – was produced and created by Carl McIntosh and included vocals from Carriere and Suleyman, along with Laurneá Wilkerson and Christine Levin.
McIntosh a musician, singer, songwriter and producer can also be heard on songs by Caron Wheeler, Ruth Joy, 5-Star, Phylis Hyman, D’angello, Angie Stone, Leon Ware, Beverley Knight, and many more.
Loose Ends were the first British R&B band to have a no.1 gold selling album in the United States, and single, Hangin’ on a String (Contemplating) is featured in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto IV’s fictional Soul/R&B radio station, The Vibe 98.8.
