The Solent branch of Positive Money is holding an event on Sunday, October 9 on the theme ‘Inflation and the cost of living are catastrophic! What is the best way to deal with it?’ at God’s House Tower, Southampton.
The event, which begins at 2pm, will begin with a short introductory talk followed by a discussion.
“The ideological blinkers of our rulers prevent the examination of the range of actions that could be used to change the decline in every aspect of our society,” said an event organiser.
“A new direction, rather than doing the same with more energy, is so clearly required. So let us share our knowledge and understand the changes that are required. Positive Money encourages the airing of many different approaches to the economy so that long-held ideologies that are restricting the quality of our society’s decision-making can be understood. We always have an interesting and open discussion. All of us are part of our economy, which is at the heart of our society. Each different view we have of our society is important so please feel that you are needed and welcome. You can get involved in the discussion or just come to listen.”
Admission is free and there is no need to book. Just Turn up by 2pm Sunday, October 9. God’s House Tower closes at 4pm. You can just listen or ask questions and get involved in the discussion.
The following Sunday there will be a further event.
It will consist of a short introductory talk followed by a discussion, on the theme ‘Southampton needs a Tenants’ Union’.
Tenant’s Unions and Tenant’s Co-operatives enable tenants to stand up and get a fairer deal.
“When you are part of a union a landlord has to take you seriously,” said an event organiser.
“You will no longer stand alone. Tenants’ Unions are a very fast-growing movement so why not start one in the Southampton area. Imagine what could happen if tenants got organised. Together we are powerful: we can support each other, stand up to landlords and win lower rents, longer tenancies and better housing for everyone. As a species, if we don’t learn to co-operate, we a finished.”
Again, admission is free and there is no need to book. This talk also begins at 2pm.
