This weekend, Friends of St. James’ Park in Shirley will be holding their first ever ‘ Village Show’, a fun-filled and free community event with the added opportunity to shine in their vegetable, cake, flowers and art competitions.
The event, which is supported by Solent NHS Trust, Southampton City Council and SO:Linked,aims to bring together local people and represent as many charities, organisations, CIC’s, local groups as possible, to have fun together, get to know each other and highlight the great things happening in the area.
They are proud to announce that they have a record high number of bookings and that the Mayor and Councilor Alexander Winning will open the event, which starts at 11am on Sunday 25 September. Utilita is sponsoring the event and have provided a stage where the show will showcase live band music, choir, and young dance group performers.
In addition to the 40+ stalls, there are a wide range of activities confirmed, from kid’s story time, a quiet zone tent, Bike Doctor, penalty try out, face painting, tombola, skate school, Chinese arts and crafts, bouncy castle and lots more. In addition to all this there will be a hot drinks and home baked cake stand, and more food stalls.
Friends of St. James’ Park is a charity, run and supported by a group of volunteers, who are local people from diverse backgrounds and experience. Its aims are to celebrate and enhance the life of our park and its community, by bringing communities together.
