Top Gun is showing in the cinemas, Kate Bush is number one in the music charts with Running Up That Hill and Southampton is set return to the ‘80s when Let’s Rock: The Retro Festival comes to Southampton Common on Saturday 9th July.
Thousands of revellers will descend on the city to dust off their dancing shoes and create a stunning sea of neon as they enjoy an incredible ‘80s line-up, including headliners Adam Ant, Billy Ocean and Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins).
Since its launch in 2008, Let’s Rock has offered something a little different to festival-goers in an annual celebration of all things pop and ‘80s… gloriously unpretentious non-stop fun where iconic names play hit after hit to a crowd of all ages.
The back-to-back support acts, who include Nick Heyward, Tony Hadley, Scritti Politti, Bad Manners, Belinda Carlisle, Roland Gift and many more, take to the stage from midday to entertain the crowds.
Dance the day away to a range of top chart hits, like Stand and Deliver, When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going, Hold Me Now, True, Heaven is a Place on Earth, and She Drives Me Crazy.
2022 has seen the festival take place in 13 locations, with a combined audience of more than 150,000 people, and, there will be more number one hits performed at Let’s Rock than any other festival – this year’s line-up is responsible for 21 UK Official Single Charts number one hits and have sold over a quarter of a billion albums between them.
The event first took place in Southampton in 2014.
