The Point Eastleigh and The House of Many Moons have been shortlisted in the Fantastic for Families Awards, for magical story world, Timothy the Yeti.
Organised by Family Arts Campaign, these awards showcase the innovation, creativity and impact made by cultural opportunities in the UK.
The Fantastic for Families Awards is an annual programme open to UK-based cultural organisations, or cultural activity organisers, who provide creative opportunities, activities, or initiatives for families and older people.
The Audience and Innovation strand focuses on families in need. Their nominees excel at creating imaginative experiences, and many go the extra mile by supporting families in need, responding directly to the current challenges in the UK, such as providing warm spaces, access to healthy meals or helping with welcoming newcomers.
Respite, togetherness and shared imagination can go a long way in these challenging times. The nominated organisations and initiatives are needed now more than ever and Fantastic for Families invite you to share their stories in order to amplify their work.
The Point, Eastleigh and The House of Many Moons have been shortlisted for the Best Family Arts Activity category, with 2023’s Timothy the Yeti.
A magical winter story world for young children and their grown-ups, Timothy the Yeti offered children and their families and caregivers the opportunity to experience the immersive and interactive story world, to snuggle up in Timothy’s cave as he reminisces about days gone by – Timothy the Yeti was a free, drop-in experience because everyone should be able to experience the magic, regardless of financial barriers.
“It was wonderful to share this special event with our audiences and to see the incredible responses it provoked,” says The Point’s artistic director, Charlotte Hall. “This project cements our commitment to providing accessible creative opportunities to our community and inspiring our youngest audiences. We are delighted to be recognised alongside such a wealth of amazing activity.”
Anna Dever, executive director at Family Arts Campaign continues: “We are delighted to present the 2024 Fantastic for Families awards shortlist with a truly incredible range of activities and initiatives to improve access to creative and cultural experiences.
“This year’s nominees celebrate the delight and connectivity that can be found through creative participation, and recognise the dedication of those working in the arts sector to bring safe spaces and joyful experiences to those who need it most.”
The winners of the Fantastic for Families 2024 Awards will be announced in an online ceremony on 28 November 2024. To find out more, visit: Fantastic for Families, or visit: The Point Eastleigh to find about more about this winter’s magical story world, Lou Lou the Snow Dragon.
