Theatre Royal Winchester announces the cast for this year’s pantomime, Mother Goose, set to run from 30 November 2024 to 5 January 2025.
The traditional story of Mother Goose tells of a lady who is about to be thrown off her land when she cannot pay her rent – until good fortune sees her making a friend, a goose, who can lay her golden eggs, making her rich.
However, she is tempted to swap her goose for youth and beauty – a mistake she soon comes to realise and which sees her fight to get back her friend, the goose, to truly live happily ever after. It will be the first time that Mother Goose has been performed at Theatre Royal Winchester.
Julian Eardley – the theatre’s resident panto dame – will return for his 15th pantomime with the venue, this year starring as Mother Goose. Julian debuted at the theatre as Belle’s sister, Smelle Bottom, in 2008’s Beauty and the Beast.
Julian will be joined by two other familiar faces, Libby Gore and Brontë Alice-Tadman. This year, Libby will play Fairy Virtue after enjoying her debut at the venue as Fairy Bow Bells in Dick Whittington in 2019, and audiences may recognise Brontë– who will play Demon Vice this year – as our Cinderella from 2017, or from when she returned to the theatre last autumn while touring in Eric Chappell’s Ground Rules.
Liam Watson, known for his role as Peter Pan with Little Wolf Theatre, will portray Jack Goose. Megan Prior will star as Priscilla Goose and will be part of the ensemble. Actor musicians Andrew Wheaton and Daniella Agredo-Piper will join the cast, providing live music during the show.
The full cast will be accompanied by a support cast, which this year includes Alice Rock,Chloe Hillman, Emma Hutchings, Holly Gardner-Hall, Maia Hunter-Guest, Mazey Rogers, Melissa Charles, Milly Paulley, Rosie Henson, Ruby Wheadon.
Theatre Royal Winchester’s annual pantomime is suitable for families and is filled with corny jokes, original songs, live music and audience participation.
Tickets for all performances are on sale now. There will be a number of accessible (relaxed, audio-described and BSL-interpreted) performances; plus, a touch tour and the ability to livestream at home – so that everyone can enjoy the show in an environment right for them.
Mother Goose will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Saturday 30 November 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
