Fans of comedy theatre will enjoy the anarchic musical murder mystery – with a twist, Murder for Two, which comes to Theatre Royal Winchester from Thursday 31 October.
Murder for Two opens on a birthday party and the discovery of the body of an acclaimed novelist whose celebration it was. All the guests are under suspicious, but can the local cop/wannabe detective, Officer Marcus, solve the mystery before the experts arrive?
The twist? Murder for Two is told by just two talented actor-musicians playing all the roles within the musical, while also sharing a piano that they take turns to play throughout.
The story is by the award-winning Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian and this production stars West End actor Elliot Clay (The Mousetrap) as the detective, with Lucy Keirl (The 39 Steps, Stephen Joseph Theatre; Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare North Playhouse) playing all the suspects. It is brought to the stage by Chipping Norton Theatre – a multi-arts venue that hosts and co-produces productions – with community and educational programmes.
Murder for Two is packed with non-stop live music from the actors’ shared piano and plenty of mayhem thrown in for good measure.
Murder for Two will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Thursday 31 October – Saturday 02 November at various times. Recommended age: 12+. For more information, including about relaxed performances, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
