Fans of military history will be captivated by the story of the First World War soldiers lost forever, in John Nichol’s The Unknown Warrior, which comes to Theatre Royal Winchester on Friday 25 October.

The former Gulf War prisoner-of-war, John Nichol, tells the story of the Unknown Warrior who was placed in a grave at Westminster Abbey to represent the countless British soldiers who were lost between 1914 and 1918 who had no known grave. The show traces the Unknown Warrior’s journey from the battlefields of Northern France to his final resting place.

A moving and revealing production, featuring haunting visuals and evocative soundscapes, The Unknown Warrior explores the themes of sacrifice, camaraderie and remembrance.

The show is presented by retired RAF navigator, John Nichol, who was captured during the Gulf War. Following this experience, he co-authored Tornado Down; and has since written countless books relating to military history, including the Sunday Times non-fiction bestseller, Spitfire – A Very British Love Story.

The Unknown Warrior is brought to the stage by Norwell Lapley Productions Ltd who are currently touring shows by TV scamming expert, Nick Stapleton, and comedian, Dom Joly; and stage adaptations of the classic children’s lift-the-flap book, Dear Zoo, and Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Tales from Acorn Wood.

John Nichol’s The Unknown Warrior will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Friday 25 October at 7.30pm. For more information, including about relaxed performances, or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
