Preview: Playmakers’ Sanctuary Local Talent Night, Theatre Royal Winchester

Theatre Royal Winchester invites the local community to join them for a celebratory evening of music, song, dance and spoken word, performed by people seeking sanctuary, on Thursday 3 October.

The Sanctuary Local Talent Night will feature performances, which celebrate and share different cultures from around the world, from people now living in the region. The event will showcase a number of acts who have delighted audiences at the theatre previously, and at Hat Fair, plus others.

Including 432 Nomads who will present Clash of Cultures – a vibrant cultural showcase with lively dances, evocative poetry and traditional music played on authentic instruments – telling the stories of diverse communities through rhythm and movement, exploring the heritage of migrant cultures.

Kalyna Choir will also return with a range of traditional Ukrainian songs. The choir was formed by Ukrainian women who met each other after coming to Winchester and discovered they had the same goal – to share their culture with different nations of people, their songs and traditional dresses that have already brought pleasure to those who have seen them.

The full line-up is tbc. This is a Pick Your Price event meaning audiences can choose the ticket option that works best for them. Tickets start at just £4.

Playmakers’ Sanctuary Local Talent Night will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 03 October at 7pm. For more information or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
