Jazz artist and popular broadcaster, YolanDa Brown, makes her way to Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 22 September to entertain young and old.
The musician whose music is a fusion of reggae, jazz and soul will perform in two shows as part of Winchester Jazz Festival: YolanDa’s Band Jam and An Evening with YolanDa Brown.
Described by one journalist as ‘your child’s favourite music teacher’,YolanDa – who was awarded an OBE for services to music, music education and broadcasting – brings to the stage a live version of the critically acclaimed, award-winning CBeebies show, YolanDa’s Band Jam, which encourages children to discover music through dance, song and play.
The stage show, which has featured at the likes of Camp Bestival, Big Feastival and at the Royal Festival Hall, teaches children about music and instruments, different musical sounds and styles, and inspires them to discover the joys of music and music making.
Later, the double MOBO award-winning musician will present An Evening with YolanDa Brown, which will have jazz fans dancing in their seats.
The star – who has performed with the likes of The Temptations, Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Kelly Jones from Stereophonics and many more – has also composed music for the iconic TV show, Sesame Street, and hosts a Saturday show on Jazz FM, showcasing music from new and established artists.
Winchester Jazz Festival is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
