The award-winning jazz vocalist, Jacqui Dankworth MBE, performs songs new and old at Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday 21 September at 7.30pm.
Jacqui Dankworth, who is known as one of the UK’s most highly regarded vocalists, appears as part of Winchester Jazz Festival with an intimate concert featuring songs from her highly praised studio albums; plus, music from her highly anticipated new studio album, Windmills.
Jacqui – who is also no stranger to folk, soul, classical and blues music – has performed with the likes of the Liverpool Philharmonic, the RTE Concert Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, and the BBC Big Band. She has appeared on TV’s The One Show and The Paul O’Grady Show, and on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night; and last year she made her Edinburgh Fringe debut with her one-woman show, Siren Songs.
Jacqui is an accomplished actor, enjoying leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and venues across London’s West End – including as Cinderella in Steven Sondheim’s London premier of Into The Woods. Jacqui also made a cameo appearance in the film adaptation of Les Miserables – directed by Tom Hooper.
Jacqui – who will be accompanied on piano by the acclaimed US piano-vocalist, Charlie Wood – is constantly touring with her own band and has also performed and recorded with a wide range of talented musicians including Paloma Faith, Clare Teal, Gregory Porter, the London Symphony Orchestra and legendary jazz pianist, Chick Corea.
