Musical theatre fans are in for a treat when the comedic musical revue, I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical, comes to Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday 31 August.
This sell-out show reveals everything audiences could want to know about musical theatre and the people who love it. It covers the journey from wide-eyed drama student to brattish diva, past-it chorus member, bitter has-been (or never-was). It lifts the lids on awful auditions, debilitating dance routines, mid-performance mishaps, backstage backstabbing, superfans and harsh critics – plus the magical moments that make it all worthwhile!
I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical is currently on a national tour after enjoying four Edinburgh Fringe seasons; two London runs; 50 five-star reviews for its productions in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Basel, Seoul and on film; a West End Wilma award, and numerous award nominations including from the OffFest Awards.
I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical is brought to the stage by James Seabright whose current productions also include Black is The Color Of My Voice, Buffy Revamped, FRIEND (The One With Gunther) and Yippee Ki Yay – a reimagining of the movie, Die Hard. It is written by Alexander S. Bermangewhose composer and lyricist credits also include music and songs for theatre productions including Spitting Image the Musical in the West End and the multi award-winning Shadowless. It is directed and choreographed by the award-winning theatre director Matthew Parker whose credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival and Steel Magnolias at The Hope Theatre, in London.
