Families searching for a show they can all enjoy should look no further than Mr Toad – performed at Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July.
It tells the story of Mr Toad of Toad Hall, which is under threat from the sly Miss Weasel, and whose insatiable need for speed could land him in serious trouble.
Based on the classic story by author Kenneth Grahame – Wind in the Willows, first published in 1908 – Mr Toad’s friends Badger, Ratty and Mole are also along for the ride!
Mr Toad is brought to the stage by Wise Owl Theatre Company whose shows feature puppetry, music and dance and whose previous productions include Honk: The Ugly Duckling Musical and The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, which was enjoyed by families at the theatre in October 2022.
Puppetry enthusiasts will also appreciate the puppet characters that appear in Mr Toad, designed Matthew Forbes, Associate Puppetry Director of the National Theatre’s award-winning production, War Horse and Puppetry Consultant for the award-winning production, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.
A high-spirted and ludicrous tale, Mr Toad is also one filled with love, laughter and heart-warming lessons around friendship. It’s a perfect family treat.
Mr Toad will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Saturday 27 July to Sunday 28 July at 10.30am and 2pm (Saturday) and 10.30am (Sunday). Recommended age: 4+ (all ages welcome). For more information or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
