Actor Andrew Scott shines in a cinema screening of National Theatre Live’s Vanya at Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday 9 March.

In this radical new version of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, the TV and film favourite, Scott – whose performance in this production has been described by the Evening Standard newspaper as ‘an acting masterclass’ – brings multiple characters to life in a story, exploring hopes, dreams, regrets and the complexities of human emotions.

Vanya is an adaptation by playwright Simon Stephens, whose works include the Olivier Award winning adaptation of Mark Haddon’s novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It is directed by Sam Yates (Glengarry Glen Ross at Playhouse Theatre, London, featuring actor Christian Slater, and East is East, Trafalgar Theatre, London, starring Jane Horrocks).

The screening is of the production filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End.

Please note: the film’s classification is 15. Anyone under the age of 15 will not be admitted.
