Preview: Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz, Theatre Royal Winchester

The entirely improvised wizarding comedy shows, Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz, return to Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 22 October.

Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz are magical adventure stories created from scratch thanks to an audience suggestion for the title for that show. Previous shows have included Harry Potter and the Chamber of Commerce, Harry Potter and the Neville Wears Prada, Harry Potter and the Minecraft and Harry Potter and the Flossing Gnome.

Each show features live musical accompaniment and is brand-new and different to the last as it is based on that performance’s audience’s suggestions – with audiences describing the concept as ‘ingenious’ and ‘flawlessly executed’ and their experience as ‘side-splitting’.

Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz are brought to the stage by the award-winning The Spontaneous Players who were founded in Edinburgh in 2015 and have since performed across the UK. The core team features some of the UK’s most critically-acclaimed comedy improvisers – with guest performers including members from Showstopper! The Improvised Musical. The musicians for each performance improvise piano, cello and violin music to match the action on stage.

Audiences for Spontaneous Potter should be aware that the adult shows contain strong language, scenes of an adult nature, audience interaction and flashing lights; the Spontaneous Potter Kidz shows feature audience interaction and flashing lights.

Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz are unofficial shows that are not endorsed by or affiliated with Warner Bros., JK Rowling or her publishers.
