Children, and families, interested in the nasty bits of history, can relish in Horrible Histories: Brand New Barmy Britain, which comes to Theatre Royal Winchester from Saturday 16 September.
Britain’s favourite history show returns with crazy new characters and rude new rulers from the country’s barmy past – from William the Conqueror to King Henry I; King Henry VIII to Thomas Becket; the gorgeous Georgians, Queen Victoria and the witch of World War Two!
Horrible Histories is brought to the stage by The Birmingham Stage Company. As one of the world’s leading producers of theatre for children and families, they have produced all the Horrible Histories live stage shows since 2005, including Awful Egyptians and Frightful First World War.
They have also produced stage adaptations of the likes of beloved children’s author Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine, which has toured the world for over 20 years; The Jungle Book; The Borrowers; and David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny; as well as adult productions including the classic, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
The Horrible Histories books that the BSC productions are based on are by best-selling children’s author, Terry Dreary, and have been read by tens of millions around the world.
