Fans of farce are invited to an evening of multiple mistaken identity when The Comedy of Terrors! comes to Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 29 April.

The Comedy of Terrors! tells the story of Jo Smith who arrives for an audition with director, Vyvian Jones – only to discover that she has actually been invited to the theatre by Vyvian’s twin brother, Beverley, who wants Jo to impersonate her own twin sister, Fiona, to persuade Vyvian that Beverley hasn’t had a fling with Fiona!

He has, but he doesn’t want Vyvian to tell his fiancée Cheryl! But, when the real Fiona turns up, so too Vivyan – a member of the local Sons of Satan Association – who wants to use Jo for his first human sacrifice – plus, Beverley and Vyvian’s triplet policeman brother, the stage is set for a fast-moving madcap comedy of multiple mistaken identity.

The story is by actor, director and playwright, John Goodrum, and brought to the stage by Rumpus Theatre Company – a lively producing theatre company that presents new and established playwrighting, with a range of contemporary comedy and Gothic horror shows to their name – with previous productions performed at the theatre including adaptations of Charles Dickens’ The Signalman and Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart.

The Comedy of Terrors! will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 29 April at 7.30pm.  For more information or to book tickets visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
