If approved, this Strategic Authority would have an elected Mayor and responsibilities such as economic growth, strategic planning, infrastructure, skills and transport. The proposal is out for consultation until April 13th with a final decision expected in the Summer.

The lineup of speakers includes Lorna Fielker (Leader, Southampton City Council), Debbie Tann MBE (CEO, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust), Rob Kurn (CEO, Southampton Voluntary Services), Ross McNally (CEO, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce), and Will Jennings (Professor of Political Science and Public Policy, University of Southampton)
The event will be facilitated by Spencer Bowman FRSA at Mettricks, Guildhall Square and is open to all – although please note, the venue has stairs.
