Applause review: Copenhagen, Masker’s Theatre Company

Applause review: Copenhagen, Masker’s Theatre Company

By Charlotte Ndupuechi.

The Maskers Theatre does it again! This place really is such a local gem.

Copenhagen by Michael Freyn was delivered to such a high standard by the Southampton-based amateur company.

Three characters, and three chairs were all that was needed to deliver this highly emotional and thought provoking performance.

Scientists Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr, pupil and mentor now on opposite sides as Nazi Germany occupies Europe and countries race to build an atomic bomb. They reflect back on it all with Margaret, Niels wife, helping them to fill in the blanks about events and scientific theories.

Such a complicated and multi layered story, of friendship, war, discovery and the meaning of life – all in one play.

You can find Copenhagen at the Maskers Theatre until the 5th of April so get in quick!
