Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi award-winning cultural phenomenon Hamilton is playing at Mayflower Theatre in a limited run until 26 April 2025.
Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.
Hamilton has book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. The production is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
Winner of 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, 7 Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
The Pianist – 9 – 12 April 2025 – Mayflower Studios – Tickets £15.00
The Pianist is a new musical adaptation of Władysław Szpilman’s memoir, adapted and directed by Mayflower’s Artistic Director, Thom Southerland.
For the first time, it will incorporate Szpilman’s original compositions into the musical narrative, with arrangements by Simon Lee. As the music and story of Szpilman come to life on stage, this is a unique chance to see this work in progress piece.
There will be a Q&A with the creative team after the Wednesday performance at 7pm.
It is 1946. Władysław Szpilman is writing his memoir. Initially hesitant, his fears dissipate when he is reunited with his memories as they come to life around him. With a cast of 10 actor-musicians, who will play more than 50 characters, Szpilman encounters his memories, which, to his surprise, appear vividly around him.
Titanic Film Screening – 14 April 2025 – Mayflower Studios – Tickets £12
Join Mayflower Studios for a film screening of Titanic the Musical which is directed by Mayflower’s Artistic Director Thom Southerland.
In the final hours of 14 April 1912, the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, collided with an iceberg and the ‘unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. It was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th Century. 1,522 men, women, and children lost their lives.
Based on the real people aboard the most legendary ship in the world, Titanic the Musical is a stirring production, focusing on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of her passengers, all innocently unaware of the fate awaiting them.
With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, the original Broadway production won five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book.
