Preview: The Showstoppers’ Kids Show & Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, Theatre Royal Winchester

Award-winning improv that puts audience ideas centre stage returns to Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday 12 April with shows for adults and children with big imaginations!

The Showstoppers’ Kids Show asks the children in the audience to shout out ideas to create their very own dream musical that all ages will enjoy. The cast on stage take these suggestions – where the story is set, who the characters are, what happens next – and turn them into magical adventures from scratch, in front of the children’s very noses – and anything goes!

From Shaun the Sheep to Peppa Pig, Spiderman, PAW Patrol, a magical castle, a spooky graveyard, a battle with monsters under the sea… Everything is made up on the spot, entirely from the suggestions given by the children in the audience! The show begins at 3pm and also includes a 15 minute Draw the Show activity.

Later, audiences aged 12+ are invited to Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, where a brand-new musical comedy will be created from scratch from that audience’s ideas transformed into an all-singing, all-dancing production. The show begins at 7.30pm and promises drama, dance routines and catchy melodies all made up on the spot!

The two shows are brought to the stage by the Olivier-Award-winning, West End improvisers, The Showstoppers, who have also enjoyed 15 years as an Edinburgh Fringe must-see; had their own BBC Radio 4 series; and entertained audiences around the world with their comedy, musical theatre and spontaneity. Time Out magazine described Showstopper! The Improvised Musical as worth seeing again and again.
