Featuring a line-up of exceptional soloists, the Southampton Philharmonic Choir, Southampton University Philharmonic Choir, and London-based Docklands Sinfonia, all under the baton of David Gibson bring an evening of Baroque to Southampton’s 02 Guildhall on Saturday March 22nd.
They will be diving into the Baroque treasure chest to present three of its most beautiful and celebrated works: George Frideric Handel’s “Silete Venti” – A wonderfully expressive cantata for solo soprano, showcasing Handel at his finest, Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Magnificat in D” – A jubilant and magnificent choral piece that highlights Bach’s mastery of vocal and instrumental harmony, and Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” – Known for its vibrant choral harmonies and spirited orchestration, this piece is a celebration of joy, solemnity, and festive spirit.
With an impressive line-up featuring Ana Beard Fernández (soprano 1), Emilia Bertolini (soprano 2), Carris Jones (alto), Robin Bailey (tenor), and Tom Lowen (bass), this concert promises to be a night you won’t want to miss.
