Preview: The Importance of Being Earnest, Theatre Royal Winchester

Doctor Who star, Ncuti Gatwa, takes to the stage in National Theatre Live screening, The Importance of Being Earnest, at Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 30 March.

The Importance of Being Earnest tells of Jack, who – while assuming the role of a dutiful guardian in the country – lets loose in town under a false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algy adopts a similar façade. Hoping to impress two eligible ladies, the gentlemen find themselves caught in a web of lies.

The screening of this joyful reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s most celebrated comedy was filmed live at the National Theatre in London.

Described as a trivial comedy for serious people, The Importance of Being Earnest was directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi) and features three-time Olivier Award-winner, Sharon D Clarke (Doctor Who, Casualty), Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Sex Education) and Hugh Skinner (Fleabag, The Windsors).

The screening of The Importance of Being Earnest has a PG certification.
