Audiences across the district can look forward to two family shows coming to Wickham and Colden Common community centres in April.
Stories in the Dust (Thursday 10 April) tells the story of two explorers journeying across a mysterious land, playing games, telling stories and singing songs inspired by a collection of precious things they’ve gathered – featuring puppetry and live music.
Tales for an Unruly Audience (Thursday 17 April) sees a bard – or storyteller – weaving tales based on audience suggestions – and anything goes, from giants to treasures, witches and wizards – meaning no two shows are the same! The show mixes audience participation with carnivalesque revelry and gives the audience permission to misbehave a little!
The two shows are suitable for family audiences – Stories in the Dust for ages 5 – 12 years and Tales for an Unruly Audience for ages 7+.
Stories in the Dust is performed by Anna Harriott and Iona Johnson and there will be a post-show chat with them following the performance.

Tales for an Unruly Audience is by Lung and a Half Full Theatre (actor George Attwill) and is a responsive storytelling experience – the crafting of a story based on audience engagement – and inspired by bardic tradition – the telling of stories. This show offers the audience the chance to participate but they are free to take part or sit back and relax.
The two shows are brought to the community centres by Playmakers – the creative learning and community engagement work of Play to the Crowd – the charity that runs Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair festival and Playmakers.
Tickets cost from £4 – these are Pick Your Price events meaning audiences can choose the ticket price that works best for them.
Stories in the Dust is at Colden Common Community Centre on Thursday 10 April at 3pm; Tales for an Unruly Audience is at Wickham Community Centre on Thursday 17 April at 3pm. For more information, or to book tickets, visit: playmakers.org.uk.
