Tangle and MAST Mayflower Studios are partnering to deliver WOVEN, a safe space for African, Caribbean and Global Majority live performance artists living in Southampton and the surrounding areas to meet and connect regularly as an artist-led community.
The WOVEN network offers opportunities for training and learning at MAST, social events, allyship, and a space to share projects and working practices. The hope is to build a community where members with diverse skill sets can connect, form working relationships, and support each other.
This is a newly formed group. Whilst theatre is our passion, we welcome African, Caribbean and Global Majority creatives working in any live performance artform to join us in sharing and embarking on this journey together.
WOVEN gatherings will be facilitated by John Pfumojena, an award- winning Zimbabwean composer, actor, director and writer. John was recently a Visiting Fellow at Exeter College, University of Oxford. He has performed in and created stage works across the UK, Europe, Africa and America. John is Artistic Director of MEET MY ANCESTORS and Associate Director at Tangle.
First WOVEN meeting on Tuesday 22 October, from 4pm to 6pm at MAST Mayflower Studios, 142-144 Above Bar St, Southampton SO14 7DU.
