The Stranglers announced as latest Summer Sessions headliners in Southampton

Today, Live Nation leading live music and event promoter Cuffe & Taylor have announced legendary British band The Stranglers as a headliner for TK Maxx Presents Southampton Summer Sessions, taking over Guildhall Square on Saturday, 14 June.

Joining them as main support will be the seminal punk rock band Buzzcocks. This show is the latest to be announced as part of the series for next summer, joining the already announced headliners Simple Minds, with many more world-class names to come. Tickets will go on general sale on Friday, 18 October.

Formed in 1974, The Stranglers are one of the UK’s most influential bands, blending punk attitude with a melodic touch. Scoring early hits such as “Peaches”, “No More Heroes”, and the iconic “Golden Brown”, they’ve racked up twenty-four Top 40 singles and nineteen Top 40 albums over an illustrious six-decade career. Their most recent release, ‘Dark Matters’ (2019), debuted at No. 4 on the UK charts, underscoring their continued creativity and timeless appeal. With their 50th anniversary on the horizon, their headline set at Southampton Summer Sessions on Saturday, 14 June will be a true celebration of their enduring legacy. Joining them are punk pioneers Buzzcocks, whose electrifying anthems like “Ever Fallen in Love” were instrumental in defining British punk. With two legendary acts on one bill, this promises to be an unmissable evening celebrating the very best of British rock and punk heritage.

Southampton Summer Sessions returns to Guildhall Square, following the success of last year’s event —which featured unforgettable headliners such as Placebo, Tom Jones, Loyle Carner and Nile Rodgers & CHIC.
