Howden Insurance strengthens support for Play to the Crowd with creative donation initiative

Play to the Crowd – the arts and education charity responsible for Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair and Playmakers – is pleased to announce that long-standing Corporate Partner, Howden Insurance Winchester, are furthering their support for the charity’s work through sales of new and renewed insurance policies.

Howden Winchester has committed to donating £25 to the charity from each sale with the trusted city-centre broker when a customer purchases or renews a car, home, van or business insurance policy and quotes ‘Play to the Crowd’. The charity has enjoyed a much-valued relationship with Howden (formerly A-Plan) for many years.

Earlier this year the insurance firm renewed their partnership agreement with Play to the Crowd, seeing them commit to the charity for another three years by supporting Playmakers Youth Theatre, which offers young people in school years 3 – 13 the chance to learn theatre skills, build confidence and create their own, original work.

Ian Tuffrey, Branch Manager at Howden Winchester, said: We’re proud to work closely with Play to the Crowd, and support the team – their work ensures theatre, and the arts can thrive in Winchester. At Howden, we take great pride in acting as a force for good in the communities we serve, and supporting the local causes that matter to them. We look forward to seeing the charity’s work grow even further over the years to come, and seeing all the fantastic performances and talent our city has to offer!”

Becca Moore Fundraising Manager at Play to the Crowd comments, “We’re thrilled that Howden can support our charity in such a creative way, whilst making it easier for their customers to contribute to the arts in Winchester. It’s a fantastic example of how businesses can use their supply chains to make a real difference in the community, especially as the cost of living crisis can make it feel harder to keep supporting the causes we love. We’re incredibly grateful for Howden’s ongoing partnership and hope it inspires other local companies to think about how they can get involved too.”

The insurance broker join much-loved city-centre pub The Wykeham Arms – in a similar gesture of goodwill they donate 25p to Play to the Crowd for every sale of their famous Wyk Pie.

Play to the Crowd wishes to hear from other businesses who may be able to work together in partnership to support the charity. All enquiries to Fundraising Manager, Becca Moore, becca@playtothecrowd.co.uk or call 01962 673 746.
