Actor Jodie Comer shines in a screening of National Theatre Live’s Prima Facie at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 12 September.
Prima Facie tells the story of Tessa – a young, brilliant barrister who has worked her way up from working class origins to the top of her game, defending, cross examining and winning – when an unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Help, Free Guy) won Olivier and Tony awards for her performance in this gripping one-woman play that takes audiences to the heart of where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game.
An Empire Street production, Prima Facie was written by the award-winning playwright, screenwriter and author, whose stories explore themes of injustice, Suzie Miller; and directed by the award-winning Justin Martin (Stranger Things: The First Shadow, West End; Skylight, West End/Broadway). The screening was captured live in 2022 during a sold out run of the show at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End.
Prima Facie has a 15 certification – the production includes sensitive subject matter including reference to sex, violence and rape.
Prima Facie will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 12 September at 7pm. Film rating: 15 – includes sensitive subject matter. For more information or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
