New David Lynch festival comes to London next month

A brand-new festival celebrating the work of David Lynch is about to descend upon London, where fans of the celebrated auteur avant-garde director who brought us Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, and Blue Velvet, will be invited to join the celebration of all things Lynchian.

A Gathering of the Angels, will take place over two days on the 14th and 15th of September 2024, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the world of Lynch, his films, music, and more.

The festival, at the London Irish Centre, will host actors from David Lynch’s oeuvre, as well as a rare big-screen performance of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, panel discussions, and costume competitions.

Appearances will include Dana Ashbrook, who played teen heartthrob Bobby Briggs in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me; Sabrina S. Sutherland, Lynch’s right-hand woman, who has worked with him on multiple projects, including as an executive producer on Twin Peaks the Return; and Lesley Dunlop who starred in The Elephant Man.  There will also be special guests – to be announced.

Both days will include access to the Lynch Creatives online panels:

Saturday’s panel is a Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With me special and will welcome Robert Engels, co-writer of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and Music Editor Lori Eschler, Ron Garcia, cinematographer and Sound Designer Douglas Murray.

Sunday’s ‘The Lynch Collaborators’ lineup will include a panel with cinematographer Peter Deming, whose work featured in Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks: The Return, Debbie Zoller, head of make up for Twin Peaks: The Return and Lost Highway; Casting Director Johanna Ray, Editor Duwayne Dunham and Frederick Elms, cinematographer for Wild at Heart.

The evening will include live performances from the delectable Double R Club, a Lynchian inspired Burlesque and Cabaret club based in East London who will thrill and delight in equal measures. There will be music throughout the weekend in secret bar The Slow Club lovingly recreated from the Blue Velvet set design, which will also host ‘The Great Lynchian Quiz’ with more events and screenings to be announced.

A Gathering of the Angels will also feature a Mulholland Drive Jitterbug Class, The Angels Art Gallery and a unique Lynch Inspired Short Film programme and a residential tattoo artist in the form of acclaimed LA tattooist Lain Freefall, to bring fan’s Lynchian designs to life.
