Children and their families, eager for some more ‘history with the nasty bits left in’, can delight in the return of the Horrible Histories gang, this time with their show, Rotten Royals, coming to Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 21 July.
Britain’s favourite history show is back with revolting rulers and mad monarchs from the country’s past – including Richard the Lionheart, King Edward I and Richard III. See Mary Tudor knock the spots off Mary Queen of Scots; can evil Elizabeth entertain England; will King James accuse the audience of being witches; plus, crazy King Charles welcomes show-goers to sing and move to the groove while partying with Queen Victoria.
Featuring the funniest and most outrageous regal scenes from the Barmy Britain shows, Horrible Histories: Rotten Royals is brought to the stage by The Birmingham Stage Company – one of the world’s leading producers of theatre for children and families with productions including not only the Horrible Histories series, but stage adaptations of beloved children’s stories by the likes of Michael Morpurgo, Roald Dahl and David Walliams; plus adult productions of classics like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Crucible.
The Horrible Histories books that the BSC productions are based upon are by best-selling children’s author Terry Dreary and have been read by tens of millions around the world.
Horrible Histories: Rotten Royals will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Sunday 21 July at 1.30pm and 4.30pm Recommended age: 5+. For more information or to book tickets, visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
