Let’s Rock Southampton returns to Southampton Common this weekend

Thousands of retro music revellers are set to descend on Southampton Common this weekend as Let’s Rock returns for a day of gloriously unpretentious non-stop fun, with legendary musicians performing hit after hit to a crowd of all ages.

The Southampton edition – which takes place on Saturday (July 6) from midday till 10pm – is headlined by Human League, whose platinum 1981 album, Dare, contained the era-defining UK & US No.1 single Don’t You Want Me, the year’s biggest selling single and Christmas No.1.

The internationally renowned trio, comprising of Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall & Susan Ann Sulley, has had four UK Top 10 albums and eight Top 10 singles, including Love Action, Open Your Heart, Mirror Man, (Keep Feeling) Fascination,‘Tell Me When and Human, which gave the band their second US No.1

Also performing at the much-loved event will be Level 42, Peter Hook & The Light, From The Jam, eXTC, Jason Donovan, Kim Appleby, Altered Images, China Crisis, Dr & The Medics, and many morre This year also sees the first ever series of Let’s Rock DJ Battles, with renowned DJ Harriet Scott taking on iconic ‘80s DJ Pat Sharp.

Of the event, Level 42 singer and bassist, Mark King, says: “The vibe is always so special and it really feels as if you are part of something wonderful. The audience play a huge part in this, of course, and there’s no doubt we are all there to have fun!”
