A Peace Protest for Palestine is being held on Saturday, December 16th, in Southampton city centre.
The event is being organised by Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Southampton, working with the Muslim Council of Southampton.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of people, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It will include a march and guest speakers.
A previous similar event, held last month, which began with a march through the city centre before people gathered at the Peace Fountain in East Park, saw some 500 people to gather in mourning and protest.
.One of the event organisers said: “With the slaughter of over 17,177 Palestinian people, over half of whom are women and children, including 7,112 children, currently being carried out by Israel in Gaza, and with no end in sight, this is something we can do to show our total and utter opposition to this ongoing atrocity.”
Protesters are invited to gather at the Bargate from 11am ready to march through the city at 11.30am, before gathering to listen to speakers at the Peace Fountain in East Park.
