Hampshire FA has signed a joint agreement with Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios as its official Culture & Arts Partners.
Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast boasting a 2,271-seating capacity in their auditorium, hosting an impressive range of richly diverse shows from large scale touring productions, including musicals – many direct from the West End – through to dance, opera, drama, ballet, and comedy.
Additionally, the theatre is independently run as a charitable trust, meaning it does not benefit directly from public funding or subsidy, and is reliant on the monies generated from tickets sales and its activities. All proceeds are re-invested into the theatre, to support its community and education strategies as well as to maintain the Grade II-listed building.
MAST Mayflower Studios, the sister-theatre of Mayflower Theatre opened its doors in 2021 and is a multi-art form cultural hub presenting and producing theatre, dance, musicals, music, comedy, circus, cabaret, spoken word, visual arts, as well as family shows.
Through their community and outreach programmes, MAST Mayflower Studios has been able to create new opportunities for both future audiences and theatre makers. The team at MAST Mayflower Studios work closely with the 7 resident companies on site, from different art forms, to create exceptional cultural opportunities for the region.
The partnership offers Hampshire FA the opportunity to promote grassroots football through the theatres’ channels and to diverse audiences.
It strengthens the ties across both theatres as Hampshire FA has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Mayflower Theatre since 2017. Raffle prizes have been donated by Mayflower Theatre to support the Hampshire FA Foundation (the charity arm of Hampshire FA) through fundraising efforts and additionally, the partnership has offered Hampshire FA the opportunity of attending its business networking events to promote the county FA’s own offerings.
By working with Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios, Hampshire FA extends its visibility and awareness of the county football association as well as its facilities, the closest one being Stoneham Lane Football Complex.
“We have enjoyed our partnership with Mayflower Theatre and are delighted that the team have agreed to expand the partnership to also include MAST Mayflower Studios,” says Hampshire FA CEO, Neil Cassar.
“Business is built on the power of partnerships, and we hope, that by extending such links, we will also reach more audiences, more demographics and encourage more people into the grassroots game.”
Chief Executive and Creative Director of Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios, Michael Ockwell adds: “We are delighted that we have now extended our pre-existing partnership with Hampshire FA to include MAST Mayflower Studios, we hope this partnership will enable us to continue to reach more audiences in the local community, meeting our aim of providing inspiring experiences to all.”
