Local people are again invited to gather in Southampton city centre this weekend to make a united call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign Southampton and Stop the war Coalition are holding another vigil for Gaza this Saturday (November 4th) in the hope of helping to influence public opinion and politicians to call and campaign for an end to the killing.
Recent vigils in the city have seen an increasing number of people taking to the streets, with hundreds gathering.
While acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself, there has been growing concern for Gaza’s civilian population. The death toll amongst Palestinians recently passed 8,000, with the majority of those being women and children.
The United Nations recently stated that “there is already clear evidence that war crimes may have been committed” by Hamas and the Israeli military since 7 October, adding that it is gathering evidence for potential prosecutions.
Saturday’s event will be held from noon to 1pm in Southampton’s Guildhall Square. Organisers are hoping that it will be the largest vigil so far.
