Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer comes to Heartbreakers, Southampton, this week

Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer, AKA The Chap-Hop Superstar, AKA The Dapper Polymath, AKA The Chap Himself (etc) returns to Southampton for the first time in a few years off the back of a bumper year, having recorded three albums (the latest of which – ‘National Treasure’ comes out at the same time of this very tour) and supported art pop legends Sparks in the UK and Europe, including two nights at the Royal Albert Hall. Expect new numbers and old favourites from the Chap-Hop Songbook when he comes to Heartbreakers on October 26th.
Mr.B’s summer 2023’s album ‘Quid Pro Flow’ was very much the hip-hop end of Chap-Hop- vintage samples, lo-fi beats and the dropping of bars.
‘National Treasure’ is a much more full, musical affair and even includes a couple of what might loosely be called ballads. It continues of his usual chappist takes on themes such as outsiderhood (’No Wonder I’m Weird’), love (‘East Cheam Tinder’), self-love (’Taking Myself Out To Lunch’), art (’Never Underestimate The Depth Of My Lack Of Depth’), political satire (’Flag Shaggers’) and his standing as an elder statesman of rap (‘Hip-Hop Owes Me 2/6d’) (That’s old money by the way).
National Treasure CDs will be available exclusively at the live shows, before its official release on the 3rd November on mrbthegentlemanrhymer.bandcamp.com
