Turner Sims Southampton presents its third year of Summer Nights, featuring a range of events from 7 to 20 July.
Expect incredible artists and awe-inspiring live music, a festival vibe without a tent or a welly boot in sight. Younger audiences can also look forward to the return of their free Family Summer Day on Sunday 9 July. Guests of all ages can be creative and learn new skills, or simply sit back and enjoy some great performances.
Trailblazing saxophonist Jess Gillam launches the festival, joined by her brilliant ensemble. Hot on her heels is one of the UK’s brightest new stars, soul singer Mica Millar, with the ever-popular Joe Stilgoe continuing proceedings with music from 100 years of theatre.
If that’s not enough, pack your picnic and join them on Friday 14 July for A Southampton Summer Night, which this year is guest curated by The Art House CIC. Featuring Babsie Brown and The Miniature Orchestra, Spitdust, Pip Summers and The Wandering Waterbears, a DJ set from Sir Hubert Carpet, and a lion roaming the foyer, discover the wealth of unique musical talent in Southampton.
Encounter impetuous singing and amazing stomp dancing as Welsh harpist Catrin Finch performs with Colombian joropo band Cimarrón. The series finishes with some of opera’s most romantic and luscious melodies, as Welsh National Opera Orchestra bring us Music from the Heart.
Make the most of the warm evenings and bring a picnic to enjoy in the beautiful garden setting at Highfield Campus before the performances. Enjoy some special musical Summer Nights this July.
