All ages can enjoy watching the antics of a band of travelling performers when Around the World in 80 Days comes to Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 May.
Based on the classic novel by Jules Verne, this brand-new, fun and colourful production tells the story as you’ve never seen before, as the performers embark on their most daring feat yet – to recreate the adventures of Phileas Fogg as he sets off on his race around the world.
But this is a telling of two tales, and fact meets fiction as audiences learn the incredible true story of the American journalist, Nellie Bly, who in 1890 emulated the character of Fogg with her own record-breaking trip – travelling around the world in just 72 days.
Around the World in 80 Days has been adapted for the stage and is directed by the Creative Director of York Theatre Royal, Juliet Forster, who has also worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company; and is presented by Tilted Wig Productions, which formed in 2017 and whose productions include The Picture of Dorian Gray and Murder, Margaret and Me.
All ages will enjoy watching the drama unfold in this journey around the globe.
Around the World in 80 Days will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 May at various times. Recommended age: 5+ (but all ages are welcome). For more information or to book tickets visit: theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
