Ragga/metal stalwarts Dub War are heading to Southampton this week as part of their Westgate Under Fire UK Tour.
Performing at Suburbia on Friday 3 March, Dub War will be unleashing their unique fusion of rock, punk, hip-hop and reggae dub in Southampton.
Originally formed in 1993 in Newport, Wales, Dub War tore onto the scene with their revolutionary take on metal.
After disbanding in 1999 with just two albums under their belts, frontman Benji Webbe went on to form legendary Welsh band Skindred.
Returning in 2022 with ‘Westgate Under Fire’, their first album of all new material since 1996, Dub War were ready to build upon the groundbreaking sound that had made their name. Gaining praise from the likes of Kerrang!, Louder and Classic Rock, the album gave the world a second chance to appreciate Dub War’s trailblazing blend of ragga-punk and hip-hop infused metal to the full extent it deserves.
Gaining comparisons to the likes of Rage Against The Machine and Faith No More, the band were declared “tiresomely overlooked” by Metal Hammer, with Classic Rock enthusing “Dub War’s time might finally have arrived”. Having played a handful of reunion shows before the pandemic hit, Dub War performed at the likes of Chaos Festival and Teddy Rocks over the summer and are now gearing up to hit the road again in 2023.
