There will be a screening of The Guernica Children followed by a question and answer session at Cuckoo Bushes Hall, Chandler’s Ford, tomorrow (January 28).
The Chandler’s Ford History Group have been working hard to collate a vast collection of historical facts on Chandler’s Ford over the years. A connection with the Basque Children of 37 association led to a film being made of their plight and relocation to Chandler’s Ford.
In the wake of the bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War, 3862 children were evacuated to Britain to a camp in Chandler’s Ford. 86 years on and we hear their extraordinary story in this film.
The Film will be shown in Cuckoo Bushes Hall on the large screen lasting roughly 60 minutes and then a Q&A session will be held afterwards by Simon Martinez.
The event is free, with donations welcome, but it is necessary to register for tickets in advance: click here for more information.
