The West Country’s finest return on Friday for a very special Christmas concert full of festive cheer and cider. Their Annual Christmas Tour is coming to The Engine Rooms in Southampton, providing a fun filled Christmas party night. A perfect antidote to these troubled times.
Formed in 1966, the Wurzels have established their very own musical genre, Scrumpy and Western! Expect a show packed full of double entendre, mainstream parody, jokes, sing-along classics, comedy and,of course, cider.
The Wurzels have earned a deserved reputation as a fun live experience. Performing a set consisting of all the hits, stories and jokes from a long career they continue to play over 100 sell-out shows and festivals every year.
With some members now in their 80’s and losing their drummer to covid last year they are often asked how long they will keep going? They always respond that they intend to continue whilst they enjoy performing.
Their quintessentially West Country cover of the Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Ruby’ has been a massive show favourite of late, as well as their hip hop version of their 1976 hit ‘Combine Harvester.’ So get practising your “Ooh Arr” in a broad West Country accent and look forward to a fun night at the Engine Rooms. You won’t be disappointed.
