The annual Southampton Seed Swap return to The Art House on Sunday (March 13).
The idea behind the event is to encourage people to grow more of their own, hopefully save some pennies and to nurture varieties of food crops that grow well in local conditions.
Attendees can either bring their own seeds (which should be in date!) to swap on a packet by packet basis, or buy seeds at the event.
If you don’t have seeds to swap, there will be a selection available for 30p per packet or four for £1. Proceeds from the seed swap table will go to the Heritage Seed Library Garden Organic’s Heritage Seed Library | Garden Organic to help them keep on doing their valuable work of preserving and growing food diversity.
In addition to the seed swap table there will be a stall from Yvonne’s Plants.
The event runs from 11.30am to 3.30pm. Entry to the event is a suggested donation of £3, which will go towards running the Art House Performance Venue and Social Centre The Art House | Performance Venue and Social Centre (thearthousesouthampton.org).
Further to the in-person event, there will be a virtual talk on Thursday 14th April at 8pm ‘Incorporating the art of mindfulness in year round gardening’ – the speaker being the amazing Lady Buggs, who runs an urban farm in Youngstown, Ohio, USA.
