Following last year’s tremendously successful LeftFest event, Southampton will again celebrate left, progressive and environmental activism in the Southampton area – and this year it promises to be the best yet. LeftFest takes place between midday and 5pm on Saturday 19 October at the 1865 Club in Brunswick Square and will include an appearance from Jonathan Pie, the frustrated news reporter whose videos have been seen across the world.
The trade union friendly free celebration is a day of music, comedy, free food and politics, organised by Unite Community Southampton Area and Unite South East Region. Originally launched in 2015, LeftFest has been forced to move to a bigger and better venue for 2019. The event will see Pie joined by spoken word artist Potent Whisper, Two Left Feet theatre company, Southampton Ukulele Jam, Extinction Rebellion SUJ and much more.
The Unite Community Branch represents a wide range of local people including retired and unemployed workers, people with disabilities and home carers. For more information, or to register your interest visit the LeftFest 2019 Facebook page.
